Despite the gloomy economic forecast
for 2009 we must go forward with some optimism. Prints
and paintings to cheer folk up will have to come from somewhere.Christmas
shows in galleries did quite well for us,giving some encouragement and
exhibitions are already planned for this year,so onwards and upwards.
We are currently planning some new cards, prints and calendars in conjunction
with "Doricmor
Prints"Edinburgh to extend our range.Some of these should be available
in the studio by Easter.
Two publications to look out for are the "Skye and Lochalsh Arts and Crafts Association" booklet and the "Highlands Open Studios"guide,which give the visitor an endless choice and variety of places to visit.These are available at any of the tourist offices and most members studios.

Gardenwise, the wall up the side of the studio is now built and provides
a good new sunny space. The wee
greenhouse will get its third new cover at the end of March, a great solution
for the island climate.It's a bit
like having a new greenhouse every year, as long as the framework holds
up! By the end of the year the
cover is full of holes and a bit battered.The flowers did particularly
well, especially the lillies and clematis.
Visitors at the bird table included three reed buntings which we have
not had before and last week a
fieldfare,presumably blown off course, arrived ,stayed a day to rest and
refuel, then left on its way.The
hoodie crow couple are still visiting every morning for their crust of
bread, while our resident mole is making so much mess, he is about to
be another victim of the highland clearances.

14th Nov- 20th Dec..................."Winter wonders" at the Jerdan Gallery Crail. Paintings also being taken to the "Edinburgh Art Fair" (20th- 22nd Nov,) with the Jerdan Gallery.
14thNov.-9th Jan........................"Christmas Exhibition" The Aberfeldy Gallery, Aberfeldy.
